You don’t need more therapy — you need to heal your relationship with your womb

5 min read · Josie Thorne

Let me be clear: I have nothing against therapy. It’s saved lives, including women I love. But I’ve also sat with so many women who have talked, analysed and understood their patterns for years — and still feel stuck, numb, disconnected from their own bodies. Insight didn’t set them free. Because what they were carrying didn’t live in the mind.

The mind can’t think its way out of the body

Emotion and trauma don’t only live as stories. They live as held tension, as numbness, as a nervous system braced for impact. The womb, in particular, is a holding place — for shame, for grief, for everything you were taught to swallow and perform past. You can understand all of it perfectly and still not have moved it, because it was never the thinking mind’s to move.

What womb work adds

  • It works through the body — breath, movement, somatic release — not only through words.
  • It treats your womb as intelligent, not broken: a centre of creativity, intuition and aliveness.
  • It brings pleasure back into the picture as medicine, not indulgence.
  • It teaches you to live cyclically, so healing becomes a daily relationship rather than a crisis response.
You can’t talk your way home to a body you’ve spent years overriding. You have to feel your way back.

This isn’t therapy or womb work — for many women it’s both, in their own time. But if you’ve done the talking and something still hasn’t landed, this may be the doorway you haven’t walked through yet.
